Welcome!

preparing for your lifestyle newborn or motherhood session

A gentle guide to feeling confident, comfortable, and beautifully yourself.

There is a quiet magic to the newborn season—a softness that settles into the walls of your home, the rhythm of your days, the way time seems to stretch and fold all at once. Lifestyle newborn and motherhood sessions are designed to honor that magic. They’re not about perfection or performance. They’re about presence. About the way your baby fits in your arms, the way the light moves across your living room, the way this chapter feels.

Preparing for your session doesn’t need to be complicated. A few intentional choices can help create images that feel timeless, emotive, and true to your family’s story.

Your clothing sets the tone for the entire session. My editing style leans warm, muted, and organic—so choosing pieces that echo that palette will help everything feel cohesive and cinematic.

For parents:

  • Choose soft, earthy tones: oatmeal, cream, taupe, sage, clay, warm gray.
  • White is always safe—clean, timeless, and beautifully reflective in natural light.
  • Avoid bold patterns, logos, or neon colors. They distract from the emotion and can cast unwanted tones on skin.
  • Think texture over pattern: linen, ribbed knits, gauze, cotton.
  • Choose clothing that feels like you—comfortable, breathable, and easy to move in.

For baby:

  • Dress baby in a solid, simple outfit—a neutral onesie, a soft sleeper, or a plain swaddle.
  • Avoid busy prints or bright colors; they pull attention away from your baby’s features.
  • Bare feet and tiny fingers always photograph beautifully.

For siblings:

  • Keep them in the same muted palette.
  • Soft dresses, simple tees, or cozy knits work well.
  • Avoid anything stiff or overly formal—comfort helps them relax and be themselves.

Your home is part of your story. It doesn’t need to look staged or spotless—just lightly tended to.

A few simple steps help the space feel calm without erasing the beautiful reality of this season:

  • Tidy surfaces in the rooms we’ll use most (usually the nursery, primary bedroom, and living room).
  • Open blinds and curtains to let in as much natural light as possible.
  • Remove bright or distracting items (neon toys, bold blankets, clutter piles).
  • Leave the rest. Truly.

The lived‑in pieces of your home—the half‑folded blanket, the stack of books, the pacifier on the nightstand—are part of the story. They ground your images in the time of your life.

Mama, remember...

When you look back on these images years from now, you won’t remember whether the laundry was folded or whether your hair was perfectly in place. You’ll remember the weight of your baby on your chest. The softness of their breath. The way your home felt in those early days—full, tender, changing.

Lifestyle newborn and motherhood sessions are an invitation to slow down, breathe deeply, and be fully present in a season that passes too quickly.

Your only job is to show up as you are. I’ll take care of the rest.
